L. purpurata f. sanguinea (L. purpurata f. sanguinea 'Brazilian Nights' x L. purpurata f. sanguinea 'Hot Night' AM/AOS)
This is our favorite color form of this species. Over the years SVO has bought and flowered many purpurata, evaluating each of them for shape, color, and vigor. We waited a long time to be able to make this cross and we settled on these two as parents, they have all the desirable characteristics, flower color, size, shape and excellent plant vigor. On top of that, we treated (t) the protocorms with oryzalin to induce higher ploidy. Those that do convert… will be very valuable.

L. tenebrosa (L. tenebrosa 'Windflower' AM/AOS x self)
'Windflower' is a very fine example of the species. Its flowers are nearly perfect with rich color and dark purple lips. The petals are flat with superb flower presentation on sturdy stems. Treated (t) with oryzalin; to induce higher ploidy. Those that do convert will be very desirable, and valuable.

C. velutina (C. velutina 'SVO 24' x C. velutina 'IXP')
C. velutina 'SVO 24' is named for its ability to flower with 24 blooms per stem. Well flowered plants of this species usually produces 8-12 flowers per inflorescence, making this cultivar truly exceptional! 'IXP' is a fine cultivar acquired from Brazil. It has good shape, color, and the lip is especially broad. The parent plant is a vigorous grower and consistently produces 10-12 flowers per inflorescence. With these spectacular parents we are expecting higher flower counts with amazing shape and colors from this unusual species. These protocorms are treated with Oryzalin (t) help to induce higher ploidy. The converted plants will be very desirable.

C. walkeriana (C. walkeriana 'SVO Passion' AM/AOS x C. walkeriana 'Suprema')
'SVO Passion' is an outstanding example of this species. Its large flowers, good shape, prolific growth habit, and easy blooming makes this one of our top walkers. Here we have paired it with 'Suprema' a new acquisition from Brazil. We believe this is the best walkeriana we have seen. The flower shape is literally “off the charts” with the largest, widest, fullest petals. We are expecting some exceptional plants from this breeding. If you are collecting these, this is a must have.

C. leopoldii (C. leopoldii 'SVO' 4N x C. leopoldii 'SVO Dark Blood' 4n)
It has been a couple years since we have listed a tetraploid strain of leopoldii. These are very nice. Flower size, color, and substance is amazing. This is one of my favorite species. They require some skill to grow well and take a while to mature. Important growing tip: Repotting is done during or right after flowering. Why is this important? It's when new roots start growing, reestablishing the plant quickly after disturbing them.

B. nodosa (B. nodosa 'Susan Fuchs' FCC/AOS x B. nodosa 'Joyce Weaver')
Have you been looking for a top quality nodosa? If you have, this is a good place to start. The FCC/AOS award to the cultivar 'Susan Fuchs' indicates a lot about its fine flower qualities. What about 'Joyce Weaver'? I won it at an auction in Florida. The flowers were outstanding. Some of the best I have seen. At the start of the auction, I quickly bid $100 thinking this was a good move. Then someone bid $200! Ouch! I ended up paying $350 for 'Joyce Weaver'. This is a great pairing. These will be excellent nodosa.

C. walkeriana f. semi-alba(C. walkeriana f. semi-alba 'Tokyo No.1' AM/AOS x C. walkeriana f. semi-alba 'Roland')
In 1997 Cal-Orchid exhibited ‘Tokyo #1’ and received an AM/AOS. Even after all these years it is still considered one of the “best” of this beautiful semi-alba color form. We were fortunate to get an original division from Cal-Orchids and we crossed it with the recently awarded ‘Roland’ an exceptional semi-alba breeding line from Brazil. Top quality is expected. This is a great opportunity to add this unique color form to your collection.
